The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won a second term in India’s general election, held in seven phases between April 11, 2019 and May 19, 2019. In the world’s largest electoral exercise, the Hindu-nationalist BJP trumped its opposition securing 303 seats in the 543-seat Lok Sabha, which is an even bigger majority than it had five years ago.
