The long drawn out Indian General Election reached its penultimate day on May 7, when 64 parliamentary constituencies in seven States went to the polls. In Andhra Pradesh, simultaneous elections were held in all 25 Lok Sabha constituencies as well as the 175 Assembly segments of the newly bifurcated State. Besides, voters exercised their franchise in 15 Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, seven in Bihar, six in West Bengal, five in Uttarakhand, four in Himachal Pradesh and two in Jammu and Kashmir. The Hindu Centre for Politics and Public Policy presents a selection of images that showcase India's continuing engagement with democracy. Text: Saptarshi Bhattacharya
