Amid euphoria and massive expectations, Narendra Modi was sworn in as the 15th Prime Minister of India along with 44 members of his council of ministers on Monday, May 26. On his invitation, several Heads of States of SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) nations attended the ceremony, notable among them being Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Nepalese Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, Bhutanese Prime Minister Lyonchen Tshering Tobgay, Mauritian Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam and Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
