Eight States, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh report a surge in the COVID daily new cases.  84.73%  of the new cases are reported from these 8 states. 53,480  new cases were registered in the last 24 hours. 1410. COVID19 Vaccination-Day 74 - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

The cumulative number of COVID19 vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed  6.24 Crore today. A total of 6,24,08,333 vaccine doses have been given ,  as per the provisional report till  7 pm  today. These include  82,00,007  HCWs who have taken the 1st dose and  52,07,368  HCWs who have taken the 2nd dose,  90,08,905  FLWs (1 dose),  37,70,603  FLWs (2 dose ), 2,90,20,989  1 dose beneficiaries and  36,899  2 dose beneficiaries more than 60 years old and  71,58,657  (1 dose)   and  4,905  (2 dose) beneficiaries aged 45 and above with specific co-morbidities. 9.03 p.m. IST . 1408. Vaccine hesitancy must go: Health Secretary - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

Seven out of the top 10 districts with active COVID-19 cases are in Maharashtra (Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur, Thane, Nashik, Aurangabad, Nanded). India has registered a significant achievement in its fight against COVID19. The country’s total vaccination coverage has surpassed 6 crore today . 6,02,69,782 vaccine doses have been administered through 9,85,018 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am today. Nine out of 10 top districts with maximum active COVID cases are in Maharashtra. Districts include Pune, Nagpur, Mumbai, Thane, Nashik, Aurangabad, Nanded, Jalgaon and Akola. 1394. Genome Sequencing by INSACOG shows variants of concern and a Novel variant in India- Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

The Indian SARS-CoV-2 Consortium on Genomics (INSACOG) is a grouping of 10 National Laboratories that was established by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India on 25/12/2020. 1364. Digital process for tracking Coronavirus - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

The Government has taken a number of steps for tracing / tracking of patients with corona and other infectious diseases in the country, as given below :-

Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme(IDSP)  :-  Under IDSP, Surveillance units have been established in all States and District Headquarters and are reporting weekly data on epidemic prone diseases.  The data is collected to monitor disease trends and to detect and respond to outbreaks in early rising phase through trained Rapid Response Teams (RRTs). 1360. India registers a new landmark in COVID19 Vaccination with Highest Single Day Vaccination of More than 20.53 lakh Doses - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

India recorded a significant milestone in its countrywide COVID19 vaccination drive which started on 16 th  January, 2021.

More than 20 lakh (20,53,537)  vaccine doses were given on Day-56 of the vaccination drive (12 th  March, 2021) through 30,561 sessions. This is the highest single day vaccine administration so far.

Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka and  Tamil Nadu have reported a high number of COVID daily new cases. They cumulatively account for  82% of the new cases reported in the past 24 hours. 18,327  new cases were registered in the last 24 hours. The cumulative number of COVID19 vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed  1.90Crore today. The countrywide vaccination drive was rolled out on 16 Jan 2021 and vaccination of the Frontline Workers (FLWs) started from 2 Feb 2021.The next phase of COVID-19 vaccination has commenced from 1st March 2021 for those who are over 60 years of age and for people aged 45 and above with specified co-morbid conditions. India has registered a cumulative figure of more than1.8 crore (1,80,05,503) COVID19 Vaccination doses, as per the provisional report till 7 am today. Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Karnataka continue to report a surge in the COVID daily new cases. They cumulatively account for  85.51% of the new cases reported in the past 24 hours. 17,407  new cases were registered in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 9,855. This is the highest number recorded in Maharashtra since 18 October when 10,259 new cases were reported. 1331. Phase 3 Clinical Trial of COVAXIN, developed by ICMR & Bharat Biotech, shows 81% efficacy - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

Phase 3 results of the COVAXIN, developed by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)in partnership with Bharat BiotechInternational Limited (BBIL),has shown an interim vaccine efficacy of 81% in preventing Covid-19. The Phase 3 trial,jointly initiated by ICMR and BBIL in mid-November 2020,was conducted in a total of 25,800 individualsacross 21 sites. India’s total Active Caseload stands at 1.68 lakh ( 1,68,358)  today as the country added  12,286 new cases  in the last 24 hours. The country’s present active caseload now consists of  1.51%  of India’s total Positive Cases. 80.33% of the new cases  are from 5 States. Maharashtra continues to report the highest daily new cases at 6,397. It is followed by Kerala with 1,938 while Punjab reported 633 new cases. Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi took his first dose of the COVID-19  vaccine today,  at AIIMS New Delhi. In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, "Took my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at AIIMS. Remarkable how our doctors and scientists have worked in quick time to strengthen the global fight against COVID-19. I appeal to all those who are eligible to take the vaccine.
