1225. Extension of validity of Standard Operating Procedure for Epidemiological Surveillance & Response for the new variant of SARS-CoV-2 - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

Introduction: A new variant of SARS- CoV-2 virus [Variant Under Investigation (VUI)-20212/01] has been reported by the Government of United Kingdom (UK) to World Health Organization (WHO). As of 19th January 2021, according to media and official sources, in addition to the UK, cases of the variant SARS- CoV-2 virus have been reported from 60 other countries. Read more... 1224. Update on COVID-19 Vaccination-Day 15 - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

The number of healthcare workers vaccinated against COVID19 has crossed the 37L mark on the fifteenth day of the countrywide COVID-19 vaccination program. The cumulative number of healthcare workers vaccinated against COVID19 is 37,06,157 (as at 7 pm today), as per the provisional report. Total of 68,830 sessions have been held so far. 5,143 sessions were held till 7 pm today. 2,06,130 beneficiaries were vaccinated till 7 pm today. 1221. On a steady decline, India’s Active Caseload further contracts to 1.71 lakh. Nearly 30 lakh beneficiaries vaccinated against COVID19 - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

India’s total Active Caseload continues to manifest sustained downward movement. It has dropped to 1.71 lakh (1,71,686) today. The present active caseload now consists of just 1.60% of India’s Total Positive Cases. India’s caseload per million population is one of the lowest when compared globally. It stands at 7,768. 1219. One of the highest globally, India’s Recovery Rate now nearly 97% - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

With a consistent rise in cumulative recoveries, India’s Recovery Rate has reached nearly 97%.  India’s recovery rate is one of the highest globally. 1,03,73,606 people have recovered. 14,301 patients have recovered and discharged in the last 24 hours. The daily recovered cases in India continue to surpass the daily new cases. The daily recoveries have overtaken the daily new cases since last 20 days. 1216. Update on COVID-19 Vaccination. 20.29 lakh Healthcare Workers Vaccinated across the country - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

The countrywide COVID-19 vaccination program was conducted successfully on the eleventh day. In view of Republic Day celebrations across the country, limited number of sessions in limited States were conducted today. As per the provisional till 7 pm today, 5,615 beneficiaries were vaccinated in five states. These are: Andhra Pradesh (9), Karnataka (429), Rajasthan (216), Tamil Nadu (4926) and Telangana (35). 194 sessions were held till 7 pm today. The cumulative number of healthcare workers vaccinated against COVID19 has crossed 20.29 lakh today. 1215. India records lowest New Cases after 8 months; 9,102 found positive in the last 24 hours - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

India has crossed a crucial milestone in its fight against the global pandemic. The daily new cases have touched a new low today.

1214. Update on COVID-19 Vaccination. More than 19.5 lakh Healthcare Workers Vaccinated across the country - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

The countrywide COVID-19 vaccination program was conducted successfully on the tenth day in the States and UTs. The cumulative number of healthcare workers vaccinated against COVID19 has crossed 19.5 lakh today. A total of 19,50,183 beneficiaries (till 7.10 pm today) were vaccinated through 35,785 sessions, as per the provisional report. 3,34,679 beneficiaries were vaccinated through 7,171 sessions till 7.10 pm today, the tenth day of nationwide COVID19 vaccination. 1213. India steadily sustains its trajectory of very low Active Cases - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

India’s active caseload has fallen to 1.84 lakh (1,84,182) today. The share of Active Cases in the total Positive Cases has further shrunk to 1.73%. A bulk of the active cases is contributed by merely two States. Kerala and Maharashtra alone account for more than 64.71% of the Total Active cases. 1212. Update on COVID-19 Vaccination. Cumulative number of Vaccinated Healthcare Workers across the country more than 16 lakh - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

More than 31,000 healthcare workers have been vaccinated in five states on the ninth day of the massive countrywide COVID-19 vaccination program. 31,466 beneficiaries were vaccinated till 7.30 pm today in these States viz. Haryana (907), Karnataka (2,472), Punjab (1,007), Rajasthan (24,586) and Tamil Nadu (2,494). 693 sessions were held till 6.30 pm today. 1201. A significant achievement in India's Covid19 trajectory- Active Caseload slips below 2 Lakhs after 6 Months and 24Days - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

India accomplished a significant achievement today. The total Active Caseload has fallen below the 2-lakh mark today to 1,97,201. This number translates to just 1.86%of total cases. This is the lowest after 207 days. The total active cases were 1,97,387 on 27June, 2020. 16,988 cases have recovered and discharged in the last 24 hours. 1200. Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare rushes a multi-disciplinary team to assist Lakshadweep Administration in COVID-19 management - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

The Union Territory of Lakshadweep has reported its first ever case of COVID-19 on 18.01.2021. The index case is a traveler who had come to Lakshadweep from Kochi in Kerala on 4th January 2021 by a ship. The case had reported to hospital with symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 and was tested positive. 1195. India’s Total Recovered Cases leap past Active Cases by more than 1cr. Daily Fatalities drop to 145 after nearly 8 months - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

In a landmark achievement, India’s total recovered cases have leaped over the Active caseload by more than one crore today. The total number of recoveries has touched 1,02,11,342 while the Active Cases in the country stand at 2,08,012 today. The gap between the two has progressively grown to touch 1,00,03,330. The total recovered cases are nearly 50 times the active cases in the country. 1146. India’s Active Caseload continues on the downward slope; at 2.54 lakh after 179 days - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

India’s total Active Caseload continues to exhibit a sustained downward movement.  It has significantly dropped to 2.54 lakh (2,54,254) today.
