As a public policy scholar with The Hindu Centre, Osama will undertake a study on the extent of and reasons for dynastic politics among Muslim representatives from the State of Uttar Pradesh. Although there is much speculation in popular media about dynastic politics, it is largely unaddressed as an academic enquiry. This research will investigate, why political parties nominate candidates with dynastic political advantage and will further try to analyse the socio-economic demographical characteristics of these politicians. The research will also try to develop a broader understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of dynasticism by looking at its modern political reflections.
