1812. Labour Ministry announces major social security relief to dependents of workers passing away due to COVID-19 - Ministry of Labour & Employment

The Ministry of Labour and Employment has announced additional benefits for workers through ESIC and EPFO schemes to address the fear and anxiety of workers about well-being of their family members due to increase in incidences of death due to COVID -19 pandemic. 1810. India’s Daily New Cases further decline to 1.65 Lakh Cases, maintaining the continuous declining trend - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

India has been witnessing a continuous fall in the active caseload. The Active Caseload has further decreased; 21,14,508 active cases have been reported today.

1805. Government decides to discontinue the Central Allocation of Remdesivir - Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers

1793. More than 1.51 Cr beneficiaries of age group 18-44 Vaccinated so far - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country exceeded 20.54 Cr (20,54,51,902) as per the 7 pm provisional report today.

11,76,300 beneficiaries of the age group 18-44 years received their first dose of COVID vaccine today and cumulatively 1,51,52,040 across 37 States/UTs since the start of Phase-3 of the vaccination drive. Bihar, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh have administered more than 10 lakh beneficiaries of the age group 18-44 years for their first dose of COVID vaccine. 8.05 p.m. IST. 1791. DST supported disinfection system makes N95 Masks, PPE, medical gear reusable and reduces excessive COVID 19 bio-medical waste generation - Ministry of Science & Technology

A N95 Mask/PPE disinfection system developed by Mumbai-based start-up, Indra Water, has been installed at multiple Government hospitals across Maharashtra & Telangana. The disinfection system called Vajra Kavach is significantly decreasing the cost of combating the pandemic by making PPE, medical, and nonmedical gear reusable and reducing the generation of excessive COVID 19 related bio-medical waste, thereby helping the environment. In a landmark achievement, with the dedication and tireless effort of all the healthcare and frontline workers, India has recorded daily recoveries of more than 4 lakh COVID patients in a single day for the first time.

1725. Transporter of Oxygen Containers to Dubai by IAF - Ministry of Defence

The heavy lift transport fleet of IAF has been airlifting empty cryogenic oxygen tankers to their filling stations in India since 22 April 2021, so that they may be filled and transported to their destinations by road or rail. The same activity is now being undertaken at international destinations.

An IL-76 aircraft of the IAF has airlifted 03 empty cryogenic containers from Jamnagar to Al Maktoum, Dubai. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd has coordinated for these containers which will be filled up with Liquid Medical Oxygen at Dubai and brought back by ship to India. The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has exceeded 18 Cr today under the Phase-3 of the nationwide Vaccination Drive.

A total of 18,04,57,579 vaccine doses have been administered through 26,02,435 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am today. 1704. Mega make-shift COVID centre set up at Kochi Refinery premises; BPCL supplies Oxygen and Utilities to the Centre - Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas

A 100-bed make-shift COVID treatment centre opened today at BPCL’s Kochi Refinery operated school, adjacent to its premises, in Ambalamugal, Kerala. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a ‘Maharatna’ PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, will provide free Oxygen, power and water to the Centre. An anti-COVID-19 therapeutic application of the drug 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG) has been developed by Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), a lab of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), in collaboration with Dr Reddy’s Laboratories (DRL), Hyderabad. Clinical trial results have shown that this molecule helps in faster recovery of hospitalised patients and reduces supplemental oxygen dependence. Steel companies from across the country, from both the public and private sectors, have stepped up efforts to meet the nation’s requirement of medical oxygen. Yesterday, the Total Liquid Medical Oxygen(LMO) Production by the Steel plants was 3680.30 MT, and Total LMO Supply was 4076.65 MT. 1611. PM reviews usage of Gaseous Oxygen for Medical Purposes - Prime Minister's Office

In line with his direction of exploring innovative ways to ramp up supply and availability of oxygen, PM Modi today chaired a meeting to review the usage of gaseous oxygen. Many industries like Steel plants, refineries with petrochemical units, industries using rich combustion process, power plants etc have oxygen plants which produce gaseous oxygen which is used in the process. 1610. Scientists working on SUTRA model for charting trajectory of COVID-19 - Ministry of Science & Technology

We, the scientists working on the SUTRA model for charting the trajectory of COVID-19, would like to clearly point out some facts related to predictions of our mathematical model, especially since some of these have been misunderstood and misquoted. 1607. Railway mobilises Additional Covid Care Coaches for use in States of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra - Ministry of Railways

Strengthening the capabilities of the nation in the united fight against Covid, the Ministry of Railways has, amongst its multi-pronged initiatives, deployed nearly 4000 Isolation coaches with almost 64000 beds. To work concurrently with the States and in a bid to reach out as swiftly as possible, the Railway has drawn a de-centralised plan of action empowering zones and divisions to work out their Memorandum of Agreement for cohesive action. 1606. Production of Medical Oxygen from modified Industrial Nitrogen Plants - Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change

Considering the COVID-19 pandemic situation and to further augment availability of oxygen formedical purposes in the country, the Central Government had asked Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), which hascomprehensivedatabaseof industrial units,toidentify theindustries having sparenitrogenplants and explore the feasibility of converting of existing Nitrogen plants to produce oxygen.CPCB with the help of State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) have identified such potentialindustries, wherein existing Nitrogen generation plants may be spared for production of oxygen.Consultationhave beenheld withpotentialindustrialunitsandexperts. 2.42 p.m. IST. 1605. Import of Oxygen Concentrators for personal use included in exempted category list - Ministry of Commerce & Industry

The Government has included import of oxygen concentrators for personal use, through post, courier or e-commerce portals, in the list of exempted categories, where Customs clearance is sought as ''gifts". This exemption is valid till 31 July 2021. A notification issued by Directorate General of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry on 30 April, 2021 states that Para 2.25 of Foreign Trade Policy, 2015-20 stands revised for the purpose. 1.00 p.m. IST.
