1596. Revised guidelines for Home Isolation of mild /asymptomatic COVID-19 cases - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

1595. Protocol for Management of Covid - 19 in the Paediatric Age Group - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

Background and Epidemiology: WHO declared Covid – 19 caused by SARS CoV-2 as a public health emergency of international concern on 30th January 2020 and subsequently declared it to be a pandemic on 11th March 2020. It is well documented that children are less commonly affected with this infection and majority of them are asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic. A small proportion (<10%- 20%) of symptomatic children may need hospitalization and 1% to 3% of symptomatic children may have severe illness requiring intensive care admission. Read more... 1588. India to import 4,50,000 vials of Remdesivir - Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers

The Government of India has started importing the vital drug Remdesivir from other countries to ease out the shortage of Remdesivir in the country. The first Consignment of 75000 vials will reach India today.

1586. INDIAN NAVAL MEDICAL TEAM FROM WESTERN NAVAL COMMAND DEPUTED FOR PM COVID CARE HOSPITAL AT AHMEDABAD - Ministry of Defence

As  part of the Armed Forces contribution to civil administration in combating the current COVID crisis, a 57 member naval medical team consisting of four doctors, seven nurses, 26 paramedics and 20 supporting staff has been deputed to Ahmedabad on 29 Apr 21. The team will be deployed at the 'PM Cares COVID Hospital', a special hospital set up to  manage the COVID crisis. 1581. IIT Bombay shows how to solve Oxygen shortage by converting Nitrogen Generator into Oxygen Generator - Ministry of Education

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has come up with a creative and ingenious solution to addressing the shortage of medical oxygen for the treatment of COVID-19 patients in the country. 1580. AYUSH 64 found useful in the treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19 infection - AYUSH

In the middle of the havoc wreaked by second wave of the pandemic, AYUSH-64 has emerged as a ray of hope for the patients of mild and moderate COVID-19 infection. The scientists of reputed research institutions of the country have found that   AYUSH 64, a poly herbal formulation developed by the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush is useful in the treatment of asymptomatic, mild and moderate COVID-19 infection as an adjunct to standard care. 1578. India’s crosses a major landmark with more than 15 Crore Cumulative Vaccination Coverage - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

India has crossed a significant landmark in its fight against COVID19 pandemic today. The cumulative number of COVID19 vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed 15 Cr. Cumulatively, 15,00,20,648 vaccine doses have been administered through 22,07,065 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am today. These include 93,67,520 HCWs who have taken the 1st dose and 61,47,918 HCWs who have taken the 2nd dose, 1,23,19,903 FLWs (1dose), 66,12,789 FLWs (2dose), 5,14,99,834 1 dose beneficiaries and 98,92,380 2 dose beneficiaries more than 60 years old and 5,10,24,886 (1 dose) and 31,55,418 (2 dose) beneficiaries aged 45 to 60 years. 10.46 a.m. IST. 1574. Railway mobilises 22 Additional Covid Care Coaches for use in States of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra - Ministry of Railways

Strengthening the capabilities of the nation in the united fight against Covid, the Ministry of Railways has, amongst its multi-pronged initiatives, deployed nearly 4000 Isolation Coaches with almost 64000 beds.To work concurrently with the States and in a bid to reach out as swiftly as possible, the Railway has drawn a de-centralised plan of action empowering Zones and Divisions to work out their Memorandum of Agreement for cohesive action. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sanctioned the procurement of 1 Lakh Portable Oxygen Concentrators from the PM Cares Fund. To address shortage of oxygen tankers in the country, the Union Government has imported 20 cryogenic tankers of 10 MT and 20 MT capacity and allocated them to States. The mapping of liquid medical oxygen (LMO) from the manufacturing plant to different States being a dynamic process and transportation of medical oxygen through cryogenic tankers becoming a bottleneck in making available LMO from the eastern part of the country to other parts, twenty cryogenic ISO containers of capacity 20 MT and 10 MT have been imported to augment the transportation of Oxygen. 11.05 a.m. IST. The Ministry of Railways is swiftly meeting the State Governments’ demand for the facility of Covid Care coaches during the current raging second spell of the Covid pandemic with its fleet of 4000 coaches (retrofitted as isolation units) with a capacity of 64000 beds. As per currently available data, these facilities are seeing a steady intake registering a cumulative admission of 81 Covid patients and their subsequent discharge of 22 patients. 1517. IAF airlifting oxygen containers, essential medicines & other medical equipment in fight against fresh surge in COVID-19 cases - Ministry of Defence

Indian Air Force (IAF) has swung into action by carrying out sorties from various parts of the country to airlift oxygen containers, cylinders, essential medicines, equipment required for setting up and sustaining COVID hospitals and facilities in the fight against fresh surge in COVID-19 cases. Team Mumbai Division has built a ramp overnight  within 24 hours at  Kalamboli goods yard to facilitate loading/unloading of tankers in/from flat wagons. The Ro-Ro  service with 7 empty tankers departed from Kalamboli goods yard for Visakhapatnam steel plant siding at 8.05pm today. Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed SpO2 (Blood Oxygen Saturation) supplemental Oxygen Delivery System for soldiers posted at extreme high-altitude areas. Developed by Defence Bio-Engineering & Electro Medical Laboratory (DEBEL), Bengaluru of DRDO, the system delivers supplemental oxygen based on the SpO2 levels and prevents the person from sinking in to a state of Hypoxia, which is fatal in most cases, if sets in. The previous highest surge of COVID cases has already been crossed and the trend is going upwards which is a cause for worry. The daily new cases has shot up from 94,372 during Sep 2020 to 1,61,736 in April 2021. In order to control the prevailing condition, there are 53 central teams which are camping in 53 districts showing surge in cases. Day 2 of the countrywide Tika Utsav saw many Workplace Vacciantion Centres operational across the country in the government and private sector. On the second day of Tika Utsav, more than 37 lakh vaccine doses were administered till 8 pm today. On an average 45,000 COVID Vaccination Centres (CVCs) are functional on any given day.
