Gargi Parsai is an award-winning, senior journalist based in New Delhi. <br/> In a career spanning 38 years with The Hindu and The Hindustan Times she has written on subjects ranging from agriculture, food, water, consumer affairs, health, gender issues, domestic politics, Parliament and has covered several general elections.She received in 2015 from the Prime Minister of India, the Choudhary Charan Singh Award for Excellence in Journalism in Agriculture Research and Development . She was awarded the prestigious Prem Bhatia Award in 2009 and FAO-IAAS award in 2000 for meritorious writing. She was named among the Women of the Millennium by the New Indian Express in 1999 for her reporting on water issues and dam displaced populations. Ms. Parsai was selected for the Alfred Friendly Press Fellowship in the United States in 1991. She was Associate Editor, The Hindu , till 2015.
